Beginings

Though in shadows we may dwell, the light shall be our guide...

“Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.”

Perhaps I am crazy, perhaps I am so hopelessly disconnected from the common mass of humanity that I can not help but feel despair and anguish at the thought of the future. Unhinged from the ambrosial power of apathy, living deep within the recesses of my own psyche and spirit, I can not be comforted by the prospect of a “normal” life. Power, fame, money, success, a family; none of these things I wish to avoid, much of them I crave like any man, but they have no special appeal, no instinctive pull in the fabric of my existence. Without spirit, without hope, and without purpose they are empty shells, idols devoid of meaning.

And so I stand here, isolated, battered, feeling like nothing can be done, and ruminating endlessly over my “options” in life. But there is always something you can do, some bold act that though containing the appearance of futility, is nothing short of the glory of God. Such actions take the form of symbolic language, speaking to the whole of existence in ways that we can scarcely comprehend, they can be small or large, spectacular or unnoticed, but within the soul they are everything.

Actions without direction are worse than pointless though, it is not enough to feel the desire to make a difference, one must make the right kind of difference. The wrong move there, a misstep here, and we face the prospect not of improving the common lot of mankind, but of pushing it further into oblivion. Understanding is therefore key. If you have found this place, then come back again to listen, to speak, and above all to understand.

Looking back at the wide arc of history, I and my allies will bring back that which has been obscured in the shadows. Everything we face today, all the challenges which seem to big to handle, too wide to comprehend, can be brought down to size, cut up, and digested with the proper application of context. Terror and crime, the assault on nature, the destruction of liberty, the loss of reason, all of these things will be examined with an eye to the ideas and events which brought them forth in the first place.

They will be examined so that the falcon once more can hear the falconer, so that anarchy is contained, so that the centre holds, and more importantly, so that you will be full of the conviction and passionate intensity necessary to put the world back together again....
